Information

Impact

This journey follows two of nature's great migrations, and the communities that have lived alongside them for centuries. A private monarch colony at Cerro Pelón, where few groups ever go. A private boat along the Pacific coast to look for humpback whales. A turtle release at dusk with the people who protect that beach. A weaving family in Teotitlán del Valle who set the table for you. Small group, personal pace, people who open doors that stay closed for most travelers.

What to bring

Layers for the forest: Cerro Pelón reaches 3,000 m and January mornings are cold. Light clothing for Oaxaca and the coast. Biodegradable sunscreen for Puerto Escondido. Comfortable walking shoes throughout.

Flexibility

  • Change your date free of charge up to 30 days before departure
  • Weather: if authorities close an activity, we reschedule it or refund that part 100%
  • Health or flight issues (with documentation): free date change

What to expect

Moderate pace throughout. Some walking at sites and in the forest. Cerro Pelón involves a ride or walk of about 1.5 hours to reach the colony; horses are available for anyone who prefers not to hike.
